Implementation of ShareKnowledgeTM learning management system in JSC OGK-5

JSC OGK-5, one of the leading Russian wholesale power generating companies, uses Microsoft products, including Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2010, to implement its IT strategy. The company adopted ShareKnowledgeTM learning management system based on MOSS 2007 to optimize the staff training process.

At present, the system is filled with various e-Learning courses directed at training the whole range of specialists. A number of management e-Learning courses created by Competentum will be added to the system soon.

Alexander Perfilov, the head of the corporate IT systems department, says that the fact that ShareKnowledgeTM is based on the already familiar corporate portal significantly decreased time and money spent on training employees to use the system.

Development of e-Learning courses for JSC Vimpelkom

In 2007, Competentum developed 4 e-Learning courses for Vimpelkom (Beeline trade mark), the leading Russian telecommunications company.

The main goal of “Encouraging employees: You can do more!” is to involve managers in the process of staff training. The course “Media planning” was developed to teach specialists from regional branches the basics of planning, implementing, and recording the results of advertisement campaigns. The course “Working with operational reporting system MOZ” allowed to replace workshops by e-Learning. Natalia Juravleva, the head of “Beeline University” said that “the result of our cooperation with Competentum group serves as undeniable proof that team work is possible even under strict deadlines and without strict division of accountability.

MrDoors

In August 2004, Competentum.Instructor learning management system was put into the operation in the learning center of Mr. Doors, one of the largest furniture manufacturers. Mr.Doors was founded in 1996; it has been one of the leaders of Russian furniture industry ever since. Mr.Doors has its own showrooms, 44 furniture dealers in Moscow and 80 dealers in other regions (in more than 70 cities).

The goal of the project was to create a learning management system which would allow setting up different competency profiles for different groups of employees: designers, constructors, engineers.

To achieve this goal, the software had to meet some rather strict restrictions: ability to use data channels with low bandwidth, high scalability, good cost to functionality ratio, simple tools for content creation, support of organizational structure, flexible management of acceptable user actions and access to materials.

“We analyzed a number of Russian and foreign systems, and choose LMS by Competentum group” says Larisa Afonina, the leading specialist of Mr.Doors. “This system met most of our requirements, and by being internet-oriented and easily adaptable, did not require significant expenditures on alterations. We were pleasantly surprised by some of the functional features of the LMS such as attestation module, competency profiles, and reporting system.”

By Mr.Doors estimate, ROI from implementation of a learning management system constituted more than 1000%.

BaseGroup Labs

Since 1999 BaseGroup Labs supply professional software for data analysis. After a number of projects, the company concentrated most its efforts on the development of analytical platform Deductor. Today, BaseGroup Labs have more than 100 clients that use Deductor to analyze data in wholesale and retail: banks, insurance companies, industrial facilities and government institutions. The product is sold through a partner network that includes dozens of companies in Russia and CIS.

BaseGroup Labs realizes the importance of support for users as well as partner network members. As a result, a training process for client and partner employees was set up.

BaseGroup Labs decided to create a corporate learning portal. It needed a relatively simple, cross-platform, but flexible and scalable learning management system. From the variety of LMS, BaseGroup chose Competentum.Instructor 2008. For the first year, the company decided to rent the system.

Competentum had to make a number of alterations including changing product design, creation of new objects in the system, and development of a new module, so that the system would meet BaseGroup Labs’ requirements.

“There is still a lot of work left, and we never once regretted that we chose Competentum” says Alexey Arustamov, BaseGroup Labs director. In conclusion, we’d like to point out that in a year, all expenditures on building a learning management system payed off by 70%.
