Simulations Development

Physics Models

The project involved creation of a set of Physics simulations.

See examples: Car Overtaking

Biology Concept Library

Biology Concept Library project involved creation of around 30 new interactive concepts in Biology utilizing animation (2D, 3D), video, simulation, and combinations of those media types to convey the concept in the best way. These media objects were delivered on CD, DVD, and websites and are used by instructors in introductory college level non-major courses during lecture presentations, practical training and homework assignments. We received just ideas and high-level requirements from the client and held entire development cycle from that point.

See examples: Natural Selection, HIV Life Cycle

Computer Science Simulations

The project involved creation of a set of computer science simulations.

See examples: Instant Messaging, Viruses, Spam Filters

Astronomy Models

The project involved creation of a set of Astronomy simulations.

See examples: Chromatic Aberration, Stellar Parallax

Math Models

The models help the student better understand Math concepts. Student interacts with the model and receives valuable feedback.

See examples: Graphs

Statistics Simulations

Simulations illustrate some statistics principles. The simulation are based on percise and accurate Math models and have convenient interface.

See examples: Nongauss Distribution, Confidence Interval

Math 3D engine

It is online 3D geometry tool. Various basic solids and shapes can be drawn and viewed in 3D in this tool. Math 3D engine helps to illustrate solid geometry concepts allowing students to view and create 3D sketches.

See examples: Pyramid, Polyhedron, Prism and Polyhedron, Cube

Algebra Online

Algebra Online is a sample course in Mathematics that covers such aspects of Algebra as Linear Equations and Systems of Equations. You can view solutions to a variety of Algebraic problems, and practice solving them on your own. Algebra Online features interactive illustrations and built-in audio commentary that will help you find the right answer.

Addition and Subtraction with Fractions

The animation illustrates addition and subtraction with fractions. New variables values are generated algorithmically using the "Reset" button

See Example

Binomial Squares and Other Special Products DND

The interactive animation illustrates addition and subtraction with fractions. To give the answer user should use drag&drop functionality. New variables values are generated algorithmically using the "Reset" button.

See Example

Parabola Defined by Three Points

Interactive java tool. The student can see the graph of a parabola that passes through three points. It is possible to drag the points and see how it influences on the graph.

See Example

Parabolic trajectory

This model illustrates the influence of start speed and shot angle on shot distance and shot parabolic trajectory in general. There are two modes: "Demonstration" and "Find distance"

See Example

SCORM Objects

Competentum has developed numerous SCORM objects. These objects allow interchanging data with learning management system and can be adopted in any LMS that supports SCORM.

See examples: Optics sample, Chemistry sample

Economics Simulations

A set of simulations model fundamental principles of economics. The student can change paramenters and observe how they affect other market values.

See examples: Supply and Demand, Assortment

Diet Mini-course

Diet mini-course illustrates the 1st principle, "energy balance". The course consists of 4 interactive models, which helps you to understand the main points of the topic. It’s logically structured, so you have to take models in appropriate order, one by one:
1st - calculate your daily intake
2nd - calculate energy spent for daily activity
3rd - realize risks related to your current weight and how far you are from the ideal weight
4th - see your weight prediction, realize how sports activity can change it.

See examples: Intake, Activity, Exercise, Disease.

Staff Allocation
Role-Playing Game

The simulation helps the manager to understand how placement of different employees in the office affects the team. You can select places for every employee based on employees specific characteristics and those of the people around.

See example

Art of Delegation
Slide-Based Course

A course for managers that covers a number of basic delegation principles: positive and negative reinforcement, Henry Fayol management cycle, Eisenhower matrix, employee competency development cycle.

See example

Personalities in Teams
Slide-Based Course

The simulation illustrates how to apply personality types to maximize the team efficiency.

See example

Transportation of Goods
Animation

A set of cartoon-like animations describing different parts of the transportation process.

See Part 1, Part 2

3D Simulations
VRML worlds

You can train staff to use complex equipment by using interactive real world 3D simulations. The simulations model Virtual 3D environment and interactive objects that a user can interact with.

See example: Airplane simulation, Flat tire, car repair (movie)

Virtual Laboratory - Hedgehog
Higher Education market

The interactive laboratory allows a user to simulate a real life situation of looking after a hedgehog. Set up a menu for the hedghog and see if the ecosystem will survive.

See example

Virtual Laboratory - Aquarium
Higher Education market

The interactive laboratory allows a user to simulate a real life situation of looking after an aquarium with fishes. Set up the number and species of fish and plants, choose appropriate devices and see if the ecosystem is viable.
